MA Will See Nearly 20-Degree Difference In Temperatures Friday

On Friday, some parts of the state will see June-like weather. But others will be stuck in the chilly doldrums of March.

Coastal Massachusetts will struggle to get into the 50s on Friday while other places will be near 70.

MASSACHUSETTS — If you're looking for some spring warmth, consider a trip to Worcester — or better yet, Springfield.

Warmer temperatures will arrive in Massachusetts on Friday, but only for some portions of the state. Coastal areas from Newburyport to the Cape will top out in the chilly 50s, while Worcester will be near 70 and Springfield at a tropical 75.

According to the National Weather Service, the nearly 20-degree difference is due to a high pressure system that will be parked over the Gulf of Maine. The system will allow cool ocean air to hit the coast.

The cooler coastal trend will continue into the weekend before heavy rain (and cooler temperatures) move in on Sunday. Here's a look at different parts of the state over the Earth Day weekend, according to the NWS:
