Nor'easter Slams MA With 7+ Inches Of Rain: New Memorial Day Weekend Weather Forecast
The long holiday weekend weather forecast features some good news and some bad news if you have outdoor plans. Here are the new details.
MASSACHUSETTS — A late-spring nor'easter brought flooding rains and damaging winds across much of eastern Massachusetts on Thursday with more than 7 inches of rain reported in parts of Plymouth County and 5+ inches reported in several coastal cities and towns.
As the storm moves away for the Memorial Day weekend, there should be a gradual clearing and warming trend leading up to Monday when temperatures return to more early summer ranges.
Hours of pounding rain caused road and highway closures on Thursday night with reports of downed trees into homes and knocking out pockets of power.

The deluge produced some impressive rain totals where forecasts of 3 inches of rain were more than doubled.

Friday will be a mostly cloudy day with peeks of sunshine in central and western Massachusetts. It will remain unseasonably cool with a high of 57 degrees with the chance of a shower in the afternoon.
Friday night will return to an increased chance of showers as remnants of the nor'easter circle back through New England. The NWS said the best chance of rain will be before 3 a.m.
The chance of showers will remain on Saturday. But it will not be a washout with many areas remaining dry and the highest chances of rain between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. The forecast high for Greater Boston is 60 degrees.
Sunday and Monday are shaping up to be much better for outdoor activities and those Memorial Day cookouts.
Sunday is forecast to feature mostly sunny skies with a high of 64 degrees, with highs ranging back toward 70 degrees under mostly sunny skies on Sunday.
