MA Teacher Accused Of Inappropriate Social Media Comments On Charlie Kirk Placed On Leave, School Says

The incident sparked a police presence at the school on Thursday.

HOLDEN, MA — There was a police presence at Wachusett Regional High School on Thursday morning after a teacher was accused of making "inappropriate" social media comments in the wake of the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday.

The teacher has since been placed on leave, according to a news release from the school. The Holden Police Department said that officers worked overnight to determine there was no credible threat to the school, but remained on campus as a precaution and to ensure a safe and orderly drop-off.

"These comments sparked heated debate, millions of views and brought into question the safety of school operations for both students and staff at WRHS," wrote the Holden Police Department in a news release.

WRHSS stated that the teacher is on administrative leave for the foreseeable future and is not permitted on school property during the investigation.

"Please know that Wachusett Regional School District condemns violence in all forms. Political violence, especially, has no place in our country, and it directly contradicts our nation’s founding principles," the news release reads. "We urge the entire school community to continue to condemn these brutal acts of violence our country has experienced."
