Summer Heat To Scorch MA This Week: When It Could Hit 90 Degrees
The first hazy, hot and humid days of the year are on the way across Massachusetts.
MASSACHUSETTS — A few days will likely mean the difference between shivering in winter coats and heavy socks to sweltering in tank tops and flip-flops across Massachusetts as temperatures are forecast to soar from the 40s overnight this past weekend to near 90 degrees by Thursday.
The National Weather Service is calling for the first 90-degree day of the season to culminate a steady warmup after another rainy and windy stretch this past week.
The slow climb to summer begins on Monday with sunny skies and a high temperature of 73 degrees. After another cool night, highs will stretch to 77 degrees on Tuesday, 86 on Wednesday and 90 degrees on Thursday with increasing humidity and hazy skies.

Fueling some of that haze will be smoke from Canadian wildfires moving into New England.
The hot and sunny stretch comes after another stormy weekend when up to 4 inches of rain fell in central and western Massachusetts on Saturday. There were also more than 10,000 power outages on Cape Cod on Saturday afternoon and night, with 60 mph winds causing downed trees.

A wind gust of 64 mph was recorded in Hyannis on Saturday afternoon, according to NWS reports. Wind and tree damage were also reported in Worcester, Granby and Cohasset.
Despite a dog-days-of-summer feel to the midweek, the NWS is forecasting the troubling trend of Saturday rain to continue this weekend, with showers likely both Friday and Saturday. The high temperature on Friday is 86 degrees, with a high of 79 degrees on Saturday.
If it does rain on Saturday, it would mark the 12th straight Saturday with measurable precipitation in Greater Boston.
