Weekend Snow Freezes Solid Amid Frigid Stretch: See Totals Across MA
Areas of Massachusetts got up to 4 inches of snow Saturday, which will ice up as temperatures again fall this week.

MASSACHUSETTS — A shot of snow that surpassed many expectations will likely stick around amid another frigid stretch this week for those who got up to four inches across Massachusetts on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service, with some unofficial totals approaching six inches.
A storm that was forecast to deliver a coating to two inches of snow early Saturday provided some slick conditions throughout the day across much of the state with plowable totals and both salters and sanders spurred into action.
A relatively pleasant Sunday will be followed by a seasonable Monday where temperatures climb to near 40 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

But that will be it for the melting for a while as temperatures tumble and winds kick back up out of the west and northwest.
Tuesday will have a high temperature of 33 with mostly sunny skies, with highs around 30 on Wednesday and Thursday before another short warmup this weekend. Wind chills will be in the teens all three days and near zero at night.

Long-range forecasts are calling for a deep freeze across the country — including New England — that will settle in for the final full week of January.

- 3.5 inches — Andover
- 3.5 inches — Hamilton
- 3.5 inches — Topsfield
- 3.0 inches — Braintree
- 2.1 inches — Worcester Airport
- 1.8 inches — Logan Airport, Boston
- 1.2 inches — Barnstable
