Searing Heat, Wildfire Smoke Hits MA In One-Two Punch
Smoke from the Canadian wildfire will cause a haze-filled sky ahead of a true hazy, hot and humid Thursday with temperatures in the 90s.
MASSACHUSETTS — High-elevation smoke from the Canadian wildfires and a blast of hot and humid weather will bring haze and a searing summer feel over the next couple of days across Massachusetts.
The temperatures and dew points will begin their ascent on Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and temperatures hitting the high 80s across Greater Boston and Worcester, according to the National Weather Service. The sunset should be a vibrant one with the help of smoke from the Canadian wildfires moving across New England.
While the smoke will make for a shrouded view of the sun, it is expected to remain at high levels of the atmosphere and not have a substantial effect on air quality.

Air quality will go down on Thursday, however, as the hottest and most humid weather of the season settles in across the region and temperatures soar into the 90s for the first time since last August.
The NWS is calling for highs in the lower 90s with a west and southwest wind.

The summer blast will be relatively short-lived as showers move in during a humid and warm day on Friday with highs in the 80s. The NWS said the most likely chance for a thunderstorm will be after 5 p.m.
That will likely set the stage for yet another rainy Saturday — which would be the 12th in a row with measurable rain in Boston if the forecast holds. While not a washout, showers will be off and on with a high of 74 and the chance of precipitation at 70 percent.
Sunday will once again be the better of the two weekend days with rain expected in the morning and skies turning partly sunny in the afternoon with a high of 76 degrees.
