Winter Cold Blast Slams MA To Start December

The coldest weather of the season will rush into New England after a historically warm meteorological fall.

MASSACHUSETTS — The long run of warm weather will become a wistful memory over the next week as cold winter air drains into Massachusetts to begin December.

With all but the highest elevations of the state escaping a snowy Thanksgiving, there will be no getting away from a frigid stretch with lows in the teens and near 20 degrees almost every day for the seven-day forecast after a seasonable day on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The good news for travel purposes is that there are no big storms that could tap into that cold air and cover the ground in a blanket of white.

The deep chill settles in Sunday night with lows near 20 degrees and temperatures a couple of degrees colder each day.

Tuesday's forecast high is 39 degrees, with a high of 37 on Wednesday and 36 on Thursday.

Thursday will also bring the best chance of light snow or rain with the NWS calling for a 40 percent chance of precipitation from an Alberta Clipper system dipping in from Canada.
