Winter Storm Warning Issued In MA With 'Significant' Snow Expected
Up to 13 inches of snow could fall Tuesday in a large area of Massachusetts between Worcester and Boston, forecasters say.
MASSACHUSETTS — The National Weather Service Sunday afternoon issued a winter storm warning for much of Massachusetts with a major snowstorm brewing that could cover the most populated parts of the state in up to a foot of snow.
The storm set to begin very early Tuesday morning could bring anywhere from 8 to 12 inches to places including Boston, Worcester, the North Shore and everywhere in between. In its storm warning Sunday, the National Weather Service said it's possible up to 13 inches could accumulate in some spots.
"Travel could be very difficult to impossible with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour at times. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will particularly impact the Tuesday morning commute," the warning said.

The storm timing will likely be between 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. On top of snow, forecasts say winds could gust up to 40 mph during the event.
Other warnings are also in effect: there's a coastal flood watch in effect for all of Cape Cod; and Bristol and Plymouth counties are under a winter storm watch, which means conditions for heavy snow are likely.
