Acton-Boxborough Graduates Awarded Kevin J. Fitzgerald Scholarship

Two high school seniors from Acton-Boxborough Regional High School were among 26 graduating seniors recently recognized with a 2013 Kevin J. Fitzgerald Scholarship award.

Lucy Dawson and Sarah Ma were among 26 students to be honored.

"We are delighted to see these two wonderful students recognized by Cambridge Savings Bank," A-B Principal Alixe Callen told Acton Patch. "Both have contributed so much to our school community, both in the classroom and in the extra-curricular realm."

To eligible for the scholarship, students must attend public high school in Cambridge, Acton-Boxborough, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont, Burlington, Concord-Carlisle, Lexington, Newton, Somerville and Watertown.

The scholarships are named in honor of retired CEO, Kevin J. Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald began working for the bank while in college through a cooperative education program and started his full-time banking career upon graduating. He is an advocate of higher education and has been very supportive of the Scholarship Program.

"Lucy is a talented performer and has appeared in a number of our theatre productions over the past four years," Callen said. "Susan has worked hard in the classroom, taking some of our most advanced math and science courses."

In total, $65,000 in scholarships were presented to local high school seniors from 14 different Eastern Massachusetts high schools.
