Acton Police Log: Gunshots, Injured Skunk, Arrest Made

ACTON, MA — Police in Acton responded to a number of 911 calls and made one arrestbetween March 6 and 13. Here's a look at what went down in Acton this week.

Suspicious Activity/Person

  • 03/10/2020 - 6:00 p.m. - Billings Street: Caller reported hearing three bangs, a pause, then more bangs. Other people nearby also reported stated they heard gun shots. Officers heard no further gunshots but stayed in the area.

Traffic Hazard

  • 03/10/2020 - 11:50 p.m. - School Street: Officers were called to check on a water-filled hole near the mailbox. The Highway Department was notified of a sinkhole and covered it with a steel plate. The water department was notified of a water main break

Warrant Arrest

  • 03/11/2020 - 4:37 p.m. - Main Street: Joanna Bremis of Lexington came to the police station and was arrested on a warrant.

Suspicious Activity/Person

  • 03/11/2020 - 7:52 p.m. - Great Road: A caller reported seeing someone going in and out of the woods behind their apartment wearing a dark hoodie. The area was checked, and the person was not found.

General Service

  • 03/11/2020 - 10:01 p.m.- Main Street: Caller reported an ATM had taken her card. She stated she was concerned someone may be able to access her card. Police assisted, and her card was canceled.

Mutual-Aid, Police

  • 03/12/2020 - 9:11 a.m. - Parker Street: 68GA assisting a detective from Leominster Police Detective Osborne, attempting to raise the resident at the above address regarding an armed robbery.

Animal Problem

  • 03/12/2020 - 1:45 p.m. - Quarry Road: Officers responded to a call about an injured skunk. Steps were taken to remove the skunk.

Vehicle Crash No Injuries

  • 03/12/2020 - 1:53 p.m. - Massachusetts Avenue: Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash.

Assist FD

  • 03/12/2020 - 7:27 p.m. - Davis Road: Fire and EMS responded to a fire alarm and found it was triggered by burned food on the third floor. The fire alarm system was reset.

Suspicious Activity/Person

  • 03/12/2020 10:10 p.m. - Pope Road: Police responded to a report for that noise had been heard in the house's basement for the last 30 minutes. Officers checked the residents with the homeowner. No issues were found, and police are unsure what caused the noise.

Medical

  • 03/12/2020 - 10:19 p.m. - Hartland Way: A Lifeline was activated by accident. All units clear.

Assist FD

  • 03/06/2020 - 3:30 a.m. - Lilac Court: A smoke detector sounding with no smoke or fire. Faulty detector, management told to replace. Clear.
