Evelyn Abayaah-Issah To Run For Acton-Boxborough School Committee

Abayaah-Issah said her focus on the school committee will be on universal full day kindergarten, reducing class size in Acton Boxborough.

Evelyn is a Boxborough resident and community leader. Her focus on the school committee will be on universal full day kindergarten, reducing class size in Acton Boxborough Regional School District, and diversifying ABRSD

Evelyn Abayaah-Issah, a healthcare professional who lives with her husband and two children in Boxborough, has announced her candidacy for the Boxborough School Committee. Ms. Abayaah-Issah who previously served on the Blanchard School PTF, and currently sits on the Acton-Boxborough Regional High School Principal’s Council, is running to focus on reducing class sizes for all schools in AB, introduce universal, full-day kindergarten, as well as to be a voice for making progress on diversity issues in the K-12 public schools.

“I’m grateful for the great public education that my daughters Song and Kubi have received in the Acton Boxborough school system; I am hoping to take my experiences volunteering on school boards, to further improve our schools.” Evelyn is the Director of International Programs and Advisory Services at Mass General Hospital (MGH); she received her Masters of Science and Bachelor of Science at UMass-Lowell, prior to immigrating to the United States in 1999, she studied Journalism at Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Evelyn is excited about her candidature and is looking forward to her contribution on the committee, she intents to be an engaged member who makes meaningful contributions on the committee. “ Given this opportunity, I will not take it for granted, I intend to show up, be present, and contribute my bit for the people of Boxborough, that’s what they deserve for putting their trust in me to represent them on the school committee.”
