ANDOVER, MA — If you’re like many of your Andover neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.

Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.

Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Andover area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:

  • The Friends of Memorial Hall Library are library patrons just like you and for over 45 years have raised money for Andover's Memorial Hall Library.
  • Project Home Again provides those in need with the furniture and household goods necessary to live in comfort and with dignity — free of charge.
  • Andover Village Improvement Society manages more than 30 reservations comprising more than 1,200 acres in the Town of Andover.
  • Andover Community Trust advocates for and develops homes that families can afford in the Andover community.
  • Ironstone Farm provides therapeutic, educational, and recreational opportunities using the resources of the farm and its environment to help all involved experience joy and enhanced quality of life.
