56-Year-old Man Suffers Serious Injuries In Early Monday Andover Crash

The North Reading man was airlifted to Boston Medical Center after a single-vehicle accident on southbound I-93 near exit 39B.

ANDOVER, MA —A 56-year-old North Reading man was airlifted to the hospital early Monday morning after he was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 93 in Andover, WCVB reported.

Police did not give the man's name but said he suffered serious injuries.

According to WCVB, at about 2:18 a.m., troopers responded to the crash on southbound I-93 near exit 39B. At the scene, authorities found a 2008 Chevy Malibu that had crashed into a guardrail on the left side of the highway.

The victim was trapped inside the vehicle and needed to be extracted by emergency personnel, WCVB reported. The victim was taken to Boston Medical Center by medical helicopter.

The accident brought traffic to a standstill on I-93, but it has returned to normal, according to WCVB.
