Andover Advances To GBH High School Quiz Show Quarterfinal

ANDOVER, MA — Andover High School's quiz team won their first match of the Season 13 tournament Saturday, advancing to the quarterfinal round in April.

This is Andover's 6th time appearing on the High School Quiz Show. In Season 9, Andover took home the State Championship against Lexington High School.

Andover took down wildcard winner Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in their match airing Saturday. On April 9, they will play defending champion Belmont High School, which beat Lexington Feb. 12.

Andover is one of 17 teams competing on season 13 of the show. The schools won spots in the competition after scoring highest in a recent qualifying event with 72 schools.

"'High School Quiz Show' is a fast-paced, bracketed academic competition for teams of Massachusetts high school students, produced by GBH. Aside from 'Jeopardy!,' 'High School Quiz Show' is the most popular academic quiz show on American television," GBH said in a news release.

This season, teams participate remotely while host Billy Costa moderates from GBH's Brighton studios.
