Andover High School Narrowly Loses High School Quiz Championship

After a tough competition Andover High School Quiz team was defeated by North Quincy High School on GBH's High School Quiz Show.

ANDOVER, MA — North Quincy defeated Andover High School in GBH's High School Quiz Show after narrowly outscoring Andover 1120 to 980.

The televised quiz show, hosted by Billy Costa, involves four-person teams of Massachusetts high schoolers attempting to outsmart each other in fast-paced quizzes on various subjects such as literature, current events, art, history and math. The show features cameos from prominent actors and politicians—such as MA Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, along with actress Kristen Bell, who made appearances this season.

Teams participate in a "Super Sunday" event every fall to qualify. Out of the 70 schools that competed last year, only 17 were selected.

This was Andover High Schools' sixth time competing in the tournament—they won the championship in season nine against Lexington. Yet, despite their best efforts and numerous lead changes, Andover could not create a late comeback to come away with the championship.

As champions, North Quincy received a $1,000 check, gold medals for each student and coach and a banner for their school.
