Andover to Hold Public Info Session on Trash Collection Changes

Residents can learn about new automated system before July 2025 rollout.

ANDOVER, MA — The Town of Andover will host its first public information session on the upcoming transition to automated trash and recycling collection on Wednesday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m. at the Robb Senior Center, 30 Whittier Court.

Town Manager Andrew Flanagan and Public Works Director Carlos Jaquez will lead the session, answering residents' questions about the new system. The event, hosted by Andover Elder Services, will also feature sample trash carts so attendees can see their size and how they work.

The carts will remain on display at the Robb Center throughout the week of March 24 for those unable to attend.

This meeting is the first of several public sessions planned before the town officially switches to automated collection on July 1, 2025. The transition will require all households to use standardized, town-issued carts. Each home will receive a 64-gallon trash cart and a 96-gallon recycling cart at no cost.

Residents needing extra capacity can purchase a second 64-gallon trash cart for $75 beginning July 1, 2025. Additional 96-gallon recycling carts will be available for free after Sept. 1. Those who prefer smaller carts can request a 34-gallon trash cart or a 64-gallon recycling cart instead.
