Andover Hosting Black History Month Open Mic Night Thursday

The Commission on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting the event celebrating Black history, literature, culture and achievements.

ANDOVER, MA — Andover's Commission on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is hosting an open mic night celebrating Black history and culture Thursday, the town said.

The event, part of Black History Month, aims to celebrate Black history, culture, literature and achievements. The open mic will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Andover Center for History and Culture.

The commission is looking for residents to register, whether they want to speak, attend in person or attend virtually. There are limited spots for each category

"All speakers should limit their speaking time to no more than 5 minutes," the commission said. "Speakers will be contacted in advance to confirm what time they should be prepared to deliver the spoken piece during the event."

Masks are required for in-person attendance.
