Andover Playground Reopens Following Upgrades
The town celebrated the reopening of the playground, which has undergone numerous improvements.
ANDOVER, MA — The town celebrated the reopening of the improved Ballardvale Playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday.
"The event marked the completion of a project aimed at making this highly utilized community space more accessible and inclusive for all children and families," the town wrote in a Facebook post.
Improvements include new accessible playground equipment, the replacement of mulch with rubber surfacing, companion seating, and other enhancements to increase the usability and safety of the playground.

The project was funded through a $199,435.50 grant from the Massachusetts Office on Disability’s Municipal ADA Improvement Grant Program, as well as a $25,000 donation from the Rare Road Foundation.
"We are especially grateful to Julee Armitage, co-Founder of the Rare Road Foundation and Commission on Disability member, for her vision, advocacy, and generosity," the town wrote.
