ANDOVER, MA — The Lincoln Street shared use trial is officially underway. Traffic delineator posts have been installed along the roadway, creating a temporary, approximately 8-foot shared use path. Vehicle traffic is now restricted to one-way travel in the southbound direction, toward Shawsheen Road.
Creation of a shared use path on Lincoln Street was identified as a townwide priority in the recently finalized Complete Streets Prioritization Plan. The project is intended to improve pedestrian safety along the roadway, which is heavily utilized by Andover Public Schools students traveling to and from Andover High School and West Middle School. In its present condition, the roadway has limited pedestrian accommodations, which presents safety challenges to pedestrians and bicyclists.
