Hearing Continued for Level 3 Sex Offender in Andover
Andover resident and level 3 sex offender Peter Placet will have to wait until June 4 to see if he can remove a monitoring bracelet.
A Salem Superior Court judge Monday continued a hearing for Peter Placet, a level 3 sex offender living in Andover who was requesting the removal of a monitoring bracelet. The bracelet was placed on Placet recently after he violated his probabtional terms.
Placet lives near the on South Main Street. He allegedly spoke with a student unrelated to the Montessori school but who lives in the area, according to a parent at the school.
The action, which took place a little less than two months ago, was a violation of the terms of his probation and the courts ordered that he wear a monitoring bracelet.

Placet was in court Monday to request the removal of the bracelet. A judge at Salem Superior Court, however, continued the hearing to June 4.
According to an article in the Eagle Tribune, Placet will stay in jail for the two weeks leading up to the June 4 court date. During Monday's hearing, Placet told Judge John Lu that he'd rather be in jail than wear a bracelet. Judge John Lu then ordered Placet be incarcerated without bail until June 4.

Placet had been ruled a level 3 sex offender in connection with 2008 convictions of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14 and open and gross lewdness and lascivious behavior.
