Mass. Reps Write Letter To Baby Formula Maker Abbot Nutrition
Massachusetts Representatives wrote a letter to Abbot Nutrition requesting answers to the current baby formula shortage in the State.
ANDOVER, MA — Representatives Lori Trahan, Katherine Clack and Ayanna Pressley sent out a letter requesting an answer from Abbot Nutrition on when Massachusetts residents can find the baby formula Similac back on store shelves.
Representatives sent the letter Tuesday according to a report from WGBH. “rationing food for infants who desperately need nutrients to grow up strong and healthy is not an acceptable outcome,” said the letter.
Similac, which Abbot Nutrition produces, is the standard formula for those in the Massachusetts Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program. Many families in the Merrimack Valley are enrolled in the program — 95 percent of babies born in Lawrence last year were eligible for the program.
