Human Remains Found In Andover, Police Investigating

Officials are working to identify human remains were found in the Route 28 and I-495 area, an official confirmed.

ANDOVER, MA — Police are investigating after human remains were found in Andover Feb. 21, the Essex District Attorney's Office said.

A dog walker called Andover police around 11:30 a.m. Monday morning about possible human remains in a wooded area near Route 28 and Interstate 495, the district attorney's office said. Officials have confirmed the remains are human.

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office are working to identify the bones, which include a skull, a jaw and an arm or leg bone. A forensic anthropologist with the office confirmed the bones were human based on a photograph.

Technicians took the remains to Boston for identification.

Police returned to the area Thursday morning for an additional search.
