Raising the Barre in Andover
In April, barre n9ne studios opened on Post Office Avenue and is offering Andover a new way to stay lean.
Barre classes offer a fat burning and body sculpting exercise that incorporates elements from Pilates, ballet and resistance training. Now working in a brand new studio at 10 Post Office Ave., owner Tanya Croteau founded barre n9ne Studio using her own unique Barre method using light weights, the ballet barre, and your own body weight.
Croteau operated a store in Danvers for roughly two years before opening her Andover studio last month. Since she began she has received positive feedback on the exercise and stretching techniques used to create "long, lean muscle."
"Over time it creates a longer, leaner physique," said Croteau. "I encourage them [clients] to do it in their daily life."

Croteau said the techniques also allow clients to grow the connection between the mind and the body.
"I recommend it for men and women," said Croteau.

Croteau, who grew up in Danvers, said she named the business barre n9ne Studios, in honor of 9 Page Street, their location in Danvers. No matter where the business goes from here, she said the name is a constant reminder of where she came from.
The Andover barre n9ne Studio is located at 10 Post Office Ave., Andover. Call 978-470-4750 for more information or visit barren9ne.com.
