What's New In Andover Public Schools This Year?

ANDOVER, MA — Summer ends for Andover Public School students on Wednesday, Aug. 28, when the new school year starts. And the new school year means new start times and other changes in Andover. Here's a quick look at some of the big changes parents and students can expect, as well as some other helpful information to get the year off to a strong start.

New Dismissal Times

Andover approved a change to the school-day schedule last year. Here's when your students need to be at school, and when they will be dismissed:

New Traffic Pattern For Pick-up/Drop-off At Andover High School

School and public safety officials have redesigned the traffic flow at Andover High School for the 2019-20 school year. The major changes include:

1. Bus traffic only will leave through the Shawsheen Road exit during drop off and pick up hours. All other vehicles will exit to the east of West Middle School or via Moraine Street.
2. The creation of a bypass lane past the senior parking lot (LOT C) will separate traffic not remaining on campus from students parking on campus.
3. The senior parking lot (by the tennis courts) is now first come/ first serve parking for students holding a LOT C parking pass only. There are reserved spaces for faculty in that lot, please be respectful of all signs.
4. Flow of traffic in the field house faculty parking lot will reverse from previous years.
5. The creation of angled parking in the senior parking lot.
6. Drivers who need to access either senior lot (LOT C) or the Collins Center parking lot will need to enter the high school through the Shawsheen Road entrance.
