Are You Arlington's Next Poet Laureate?

Applications for the volunteer position are due June 8.

Are you Arlington’s next Poet Laureate? Probably not! But someone out there is.

A press release from the town explains that Arlington is looking for a self-motivated wordsmith to serve as Poet Laureate for a year.

The position entails encouraging reading and writing of poetry in Arlington via conversations, readings, public appearances, and workshops.

The Poet Laureate won’t get paid, but nobody who studies poetry does so to get rich anyway.

Applications are due June 8, and are available at the town’s website, the Town Manager’s Office, the Board of Selectmen’s Office, and at the Robbins Library. Questions can be directed toward the Poet Laureate Committee Chair Liza Halley.
