"Join clergy members and community leadership as we stand in solidarity against racism," event organizers said.

ARLINGTON, MA—Following the recent death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis, people all over the country - including here in Arlington - continue to mourn his death and demand justice.

This Tuesday, representatives with the Arlington Human Rights Commission said they will take part in virtual vigil to remember "the blacks lives that have been taken by police officers and to call for an end to police brutality."

"Join clergy members and community leadership as we stand in solidarity against racism, police brutality and racial violence," event organizers said.

The protests come more than a week after the death of Floyd, 46, of Minneapolis. On May 25, former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin placed his left knee in the area of Floyd's head and neck for about nine minutes as Floyd remained face down on the ground.

Court records show that officers were arresting Floyd for using a fake $20 bill to buy merchandise at a Minneapolis business. Floyd later died in handcuffs after saying that he was struggling to breathe during the arrest, video shows.
