CDBG Funds Diverted For COVID-19 Response, Arlington EATS, DPW
Arlington is amending the Community Development Block Grant to reprogram its use of economic development funds.
ARLINGTON, MA — The town is amending its Community Development Block Grant 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan to reprogram economic development funds for COVID-19 response and reprogram 2015 and 2016 funds to support Arlington EATS' Fit Out Project and the DPW Annual Curb Ramp Project.
The Substantial Amendment will reprogram $50,000 allocated to Economic Development to supplement the Arlington Small Business COVID-19 Relief Program. Additionally, $457,437 of 2015 and 2016 funds will be reprogrammed in order to support Arlington EATS' Fit Out of their ground-floor market space at 117 Broadway in the amount of $332,437 and the DPW Annual Curb Ramp Project in the amount of $125,000.
CDBG funds received through Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act were provided to Arlington EATS for operational support to address their COVID-19 response. The town has been offsetting the cost to ensure ADA-compliant ramps and curb cuts throughout town for the past 12 years. The Substantial Amendment may be viewed here.

Comments Period Aug 6-12
The CARES Act allows the Town to program CDBG funding quickly and efficiently. Comments can be submitted beginning on Aug. 6 through Aug. 12 at 4 p.m. to Erin Zwirko, Interim Community Development Program Manager, at ezwirko@town.arlington.ma.us. All comments received and the Town’s responses will be included in the Substantial Amendment that is submitted to the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
