ICYMI: Summer Town Jobs 2016; February Deadline

Arlington Recreation Department is looking for enthusiastic, hard-working, energetic individuals to help with beach and summer programs.

ARLINGTON, MA - The Arlington Recreation Department is accepting applications for a number of seasonal positions for Summer 2016.

Applicants are expected to work the entire summer season. Applications will be accepted until February 1, 2016, and then on an as-needed bases, according to town officials.

LIFEGUARDS: Lifeguard at Reservoir Beach ensuring the safety of swimmers and performing general maintenance duties. Must possess current Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Certification and CPR Certification prior to June 1, 2016. Hours will vary between 20-40 per week. Shifts will be approximately 9:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., Monday through Sunday. All lifeguards are expected to continue employment through end of season. Starting rate $10 to $12 per hour for lifeguard. Arlington Recreation will reimburse for the cost of a lifeguard training class at the conclusion of the summer season for all hired employees who meet set standards for work performance during the summer season.

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR: Work at Reservoir Beach ensuring the safety of swimmers. Teach swimming lessons and perform general maintenance duties. Must possess current Lifeguard Certification, First Aid Certification, CPR Certification and Water Safety Instruction is desired. Hours will vary between 15 to 18 per week. Shifts will be approximately 9:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Monday through Saturday for eight weeks. All swim instructors are expected to continue employment through end of season. Starting rate $12 per hour.

KAYAK PROGRAM SUPERVISOR: Work at Spy Pond to assist with oversight and implementation of the weekend kayak program. Shifts will be approximately from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. Hours will vary between 10 to 12 per week and will include early evenings and weekends. All workers are expected to continue employment through end of season. Starting rate $9 per hour.

MAINTENANCE WORKER: Work is available at the Reservoir Beach to assist with general maintenance duties including maintaining the cleanliness of the Reservoir. Hours will vary between 15 to 20 per week and will include early evenings and weekends. All maintenance workers are expected to continue employment through end of season. Starting rate $9 per hour.

PROGRAM SUPERVISORS: Directs, supervises and evaluates the work of Program Counselors in the recreation program; provides direction and instruction to staff; trains them in the instruction of activities; explains this area of the recreation program to the public and receives their comments and is responsible for the operation and success of the program. Season is late June through mid August. Starting rate $16 per hour. Must be 19 years of age or older.
