Latest Coronavirus Cases In Arlington

ARLINGTON, MA — Over 100 of the state's communities, including Arlington, had fewer coronavirus cases than last week, according to updated town-by-town coronavirus data released Wednesday by the state Department of Public Health.

The data showed the positive case count over the last two weeks increased in 107 — or 30.5 percent — of the 351 communities in the state. The count declined in 120 communities, or 34.2 percent. The remaining third of the state's municipalities reported no change.

Arlington's case count over the last 14 days was less than five, bringing the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic to 324. The town has conducted 1,387 tests over the past two weeks, seven of which came back positive. There have been 8,707 tests conducted overall in Arlington.

The percent positive rate in Arlington over the last two weeks was 0.50 percent. Health officials say positive test results need to stay below 5 percent for two weeks or longer and, preferably, be closer to 2 percent, for states to safely ease restrictions.

Ten towns had positive test rates at or above 5 percent and 60 had positive rates between 2 and 5 percent, DPH data showed.
