Police: Lockbox Missing After a Break-In; Vehicles Damaged; Bikes Stolen

Thursday, Sept. 10
At 9:45 a.m., walk-in report of a stolen bike. Reporting party stated that his bicycle was stolen while it was being used by a foreign exchange student that he is housing for the year. Reporting party stated that the student went to a friends and left it unlocked and unattended out front for approximately an hour. When he returned from a walk with the friends the bicycle was missing. The bicycle is a Gray Crossroads with a red leather seat and side saddlebag that contained a lock. The bike is valued at $600.
At 2 p.m., report of a stolen vehicle. Reporting party provided paperwork showing that a white moving van was rented to person and never returned. The person provided a false name, phone number, address, and Massachusetts license.

At 6:35 p.m., blue mountain bike valued at $200 was stolen from the front porch. The bike was a gift from the Arlington Housing Authority.

At 2:40 a.m., past residential break and entering. Man reported that a lockbox was missing from a closet. Inside the lock box were his Social Security card, Birth Certificate, US Passport, a Silver dollar, and his prescription of Suboxone. Entry was made through the first floor rear bedroom window. The suspect removed the window hung air conditioner unit from the outside and placed it on the ground outside before making entry into the bedroom. Once inside the suspect went directly to the bedroom closet on the top shelf where the lock box was located.
Suspect left through the front door; the bolt lock was not locked.
Saturday, Sept. 12
At 8:21 a.m., report of malicious destruction of a motor vehicle. Front driver side window damaged.
At 8:21 a.m., report of malicious destruction of a motor vehicle. Second vehicle damaged.
