Saturday's Schedule For Arlington's Town Day

The street fair will have over 200 booths of arts and crafts, nonprofit and local business displays, food, and fun events for the kids.

ArlingtonTown Days will be held on Sept. 11 and Sept. 12. Celebrate Arlington for two festive days of entertainment, art, and culture.

Entertainment and Street Fair Town Day will begin with a flag raising ceremony at 9:30 a.m. at Town Hall. The street fair will have over 200 booths of arts and crafts, nonprofit and local business displays, fun events for the kids as well as an assortment of enticing food. The booths will be located along Mass Ave between Pleasant and Jason Streets from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

ROBBINS LIBRARY BOOK SALE

Friends of the Robbins Library will hold their annual book sale from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the library parking lot and in the library’s lower level Community Room.

ARLINGTON FIREFIGHTERS “SMOKE HOUSE” DEMONSTRATION

Arlington Firefighters will provide fire safety demonstrations in the “Smoke House”, a 3-room trailer designed to teach children about fire hazards in the home from 10 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Safety instructors will take groups of 6 children through the kitchen, living room and bedroom, asking them to identify safety hazards. Then theater “smoke” is put into the bedroom and the safety instructor shows them how to get out safely. Demonstrations are behind the library. The S.A.F.E., Student Awareness of Fire Education, instructors will discuss safety and hand out S.A.F.E. and Fire Prevention brochures. Firefighter boots will be around the booth to collect donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

OFFICER HOGAN AND K9 DASTY Look for Officer Hogan and K9 Dasty in the Robbins Library parking lot. Officer Hogan and K9 Dasty came in first place at the 2008, 2009, 2012, and 2013 U.S. Police Canine Association Regional Certification Competitions.

ART ON THE GREEN!

Sponsored by The C. E. Dallin Art Museum Art on the Green will be at the Jefferson Cutter House, Mass. Ave. & Mystic St. from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. In addition to museum tours and merchandise, local artists will offer paintings, prints, collages, photographs, textiles, jewelry, stationery, and more! Skin Cancer Screening – Offered by The Sanborn Foundation / Dana Farber Cancer Center Come visit the skin cancer screening mobile van from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. located at Spangler Way (Robbins Library Parking Lot). Screenings are free of charge. There will be a limited number of screenings available.

FREE PONY RIDES: There will be free pony rides located on the lawn of the Whittemore-Robbins House from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
