Some Guidance on Yard Waste Disposal in Arlington
Now that you can finally go outside again, maybe it's time to clean your yard?

Well, for the most part, the snow is melted. It almost seemed like winter would go on indefinitely for a while there. But it didn’t, and fortunately, the National Weather Service forecasts a breezy, warm weekend in Arlington. Ergo, Saturday and Sunday provide a worthwhile opportunity to clean your yard.
But once you’ve gathered up piles of grass, leaves, and branches, what’s to be done with them?

- Yard waste won’t get picked up unless it’s in barrels clearly labeled “yard waste.” The DPW has free “yard waste” bumper stickers to distribute to Arlington residents. Paper bags specifically designed for yard waste are okay, too.
- Not only will a plastic bag full of yard waste on your curb not get collected, it could get you ticketed.
- Tree branches won’t be accepted unless they’re shorter than three feet, and less than one inch thick.
- Yard waste should be placed on the curb after 6 p.m. the day before usual trash collection, but not after 7 a.m. on the day of pickup.
