Attleboro Cannabis Dispensary Seeks Donations For Violence Survivors

Zahara Cannabis and the New Hope Shelter have announced a donation drive that will span the month of January.

ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro-based cannabis dispensary Zahara Cannabis is partnering with New Hope Shelter, a refuge for survivors of domestic and sexual violence, for a donation drive that will span the month of January.

New Hope is a non-profit organization that works throughout South-Central and Southeastern Massachusetts and offers a range of programs for those affected by violence. According to its website, the organization provides services that combine crisis intervention, violence prevention, life transition, and self-sufficiency opportunities, while promoting behavioral and systemic changes to reduce violence at the individual and community levels.

Zahara opened its first retail location over the summer of 2022, stating its mission as to "spread happiness in their little corner of the planet and make it a better place to live," which includes offering support to "special events and partnerships that will have a positive impact."

"As natives from the Attleboro area, giving back to the community has been a goal of ours since before we opened our door,” said Alyssa Gaw, Zahara Cannabis Marketing and PR Specialist. “We are thrilled to partner with local shelter New Hope for the launch of our Donation Program to help survivors of domestic violence at the emergency shelter."

New Hope President and CEO Marcia Szymanski added “New Hope is happy to partner with Zahara Cannabis to support survivors of domestic violence living in our emergency shelters. We rely on community partners like Zahara to support our work knowing that survivors will benefit from their generosity. We thank them for their commitment to this life-saving work.”
