Attleboro Police Issue Car Break-in Alert

Attleboro police said residents reported a man casing vehicles in the Mendon Road/Greenwich Avenue area.

ATTLEBORO, MA — Attleboro police on Sunday issued an alert after residents in the area of Mendon Road and Greenwich Avenue reported a man trying to break into vehicles.

The attempted break-ins happened early Sunday morning, according to police.

"Although no vehicles were found to have been entered, it was apparent that the suspect had walked through several driveways and properties attempting find unlocked car doors," Attleboro police said in a statement. "The suspect was described as a male dressed in dark clothing."

The suspect also targeted cars on Woodbine Street, Holly Street and Brettonwoods Drive, police said.

"Many of these incidents are crimes of opportunity and can often be avoided if preventative steps are taken," police added, suggesting residents lock their car doors and keep valuables out of sight.
