N. Attleboro Man Charged In Boston ATV Frenzy

Massachusetts State Police said Shane Fein was among a group riding all-terrain vehicles and dirt bikes dangerously on Interstate 93.

BOSTON, MA — A North Attleboro man was among a group of all-terrain vehicle and dirt bike riders arrested after police said they caused havoc in Boston Saturday night. Shane Fein, 21, was charged with a host of crimes.

Massachusetts State Police said Fein was in a group of about 30 people riding ATVs and dirt bikes recklessly on Interstate 93 at about 5 p.m.

"Police received numerous 911 calls reporting reckless operation by this group that was endangering the public," State Police said in a statement.

Troopers were dispatched to the highway and cornered the group, arresting seven and seizing about 20 vehicles. One rider was shot in the foot as he drove at a trooper, police said. That rider, another rider and a trooper were hospitalized with minor injuries sustained during the chaos, police said.

Fein was charged with failure to stop for police, negligent driving, disorderly conduct, a lane violation, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, unlicensed driving, driving the wrong way on a highway and careless driving in a tunnel.
