One MA Town Got 7 Inches Of Rain In 3 Hours: Weather Service

A second day of storms on Tuesday brought even more extreme rainfall to parts of the state, according to forecasters.

REHOBOTH, MA — If it was a snowstorm, Rehoboth would've been buried under close to 8 feet of snow.

The Bristol County town received about 7 inches of rain in just three hours during storms on Tuesday, making it the clear rainfall winner after two days of thunderstorms in Massachusetts.

Tuesday's storms struck between about 2 and 6 p.m., bringing heavy rain, thunder and lightning to some parts of the state. But like Monday's storm, the weather varied highly from town to town.

Worcester, for example, saw widespread power outages and recorded close to 1 inch of rain. Not far north in Fitchburg, there were no outages and just 0.16 inches of rain.

The Boston area saw just a trace of rain, with 0.05 inches recorded in the city, 0.05 inches in Bedford and 0.03 inches in Beverly, according to the National Weather Service.

The most severe parts of the storm tracked along the Massachusetts-Rhode Island border, dumping more than 2 inches of rain in Westfield, and just under 2 inches in Plymouth. Over the border in East Providence, cars got stuck as streets flooded during the storm.

There isn't any rain in the forecast Wednesday. Temperatures will reach the mid-80s across the state with sunny skies, according to forecasts.
