A Seekonk man was arrested Sunday night after escaping from police and hiding in a Forest St. basement.

Tony Ramos, 26, of Seekonk was being treated at Sturdy Memorial Hospital for injuries he claimed to have sustained during an arrest when police arrived to escort him back to the police station, according to Police Det. Sgt. Arthur Brillon. It was at that time that Ramos escaped the authorities and fled, sending Attleboro and State Police on a 2-hour manhunt.

Ramos was eventually found, with the help of a State Police K9 in a basement of Forest St, Brillon said.

Initially, Ramos was charged with assault, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, intimidating a witness, threat to commit a crime and unarmed burglary. After fleeing, charges of escaping from a municipal lockup and breaking and entering into a residence were added to his arrest report.
