Tornadoes Hit Weymouth, North Attleboro, Mansfield: Weather Service

The fifth and sixth tornadoes confirmed in Massachusetts struck Friday morning, the National Weather Service said.

ATTLEBORO, MA — The National Weather Service confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in Massachusetts during strong storms Friday morning.

One tornado rolled through North Attleborough and Mansfield, and a second struck shortly after in Weymouth, the weather service said.

The weather service did not immediately release ratings for the tornadoes, saying damage assessments were still being completed.

The confirmations mark the fifth and sixth tornadoes so far this summer in Massachusetts. A tornado may have also hit just across the border in Rhode Island. A driver captured a video of a twister moving across I-295 near Johnston.
