Barnstable Man With Baseball Bat Fights Off Knife Attack: Cops
Barnstable police said Matthew Monroe, armed with a knife, attacked another man during a custody dispute.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Hyannis man was arrested Friday after police said he attacked a man with a knife. Michael Monroe, 27, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon. He was held on $5,000 bail pending an arraignment Tuesday in Barnstable District Court.
Police said the attack happened Thursday at about 8:30 p.m. at an Ocean View Avenue. Police said Monroe arrived at the apartment and requested visitation with his child. He was denied, left and came back brandishing a knife, police said. He attacked a man who grabbed a baseball bat and fended him off, police said.
Monroe fled the scene but was later tracked down to a High School Road residence and arrested, police said.
