Police said a pit bull attacked and seriously injured a 22-year-old worker at the Hyannis PetSmart in December.

BARNSTABLE, MA — More than $9,000 and counting has been raised for a Barnstable PetSmart worker who was mauled by a pit bull last month. Sienna Bryden, 22, suffered serious arm injuries in the December 27 attack. She was medflighted to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston due to the severity of her injuries.

"During the grooming process, while the dog was being moved, for no apparent reason and without warning, the dog attacked the victim and would not let go of her arm," Barnstable police said in a statement. "Co-workers utilized an air horn and special spray, but were not able to deter the dog, until they were able to physically extract the victim's arm from the jaws of the dog. They secured the dog in a kennel cage."

The dog, Bubba, was later euthanized, according to the Cape Cod Times.
