Barnstable Police: Brockton Men Arrested In Drug Robbery

Barnstable police said Valter Barbosa and Nathan Ribeiro-Neves used a replica gun to rob three people during a botched drug deal.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable police said two men robbed three people during a botched drug deal Monday night. The men were identified as Brockton residents Valter Barbosa, 25, and Nathan Ribeiro-Neves, 18. They were charged with armed robbery, assault and larceny.

Police said Barbosa and Ribeiro-Neves met the trio on Indian Hill Road.

"One victim alleged that Ribeiro-Neves physically restrained him, while Barbosa pulled a firearm from his waistband and demanded cash and drugs," Barnstable police said in a statement. "The perpetrators fled with one victims’ backpack, containing narcotics and personal items."

About an hour later, State Police arrested Barbosa and Ribeiro-Neves in a vehicle on Route 3 in Plymouth. The pair were held on $5,000 bail pending an arraignment Tuesday in Barnstable District Court.
