Barnstable Police Alert For Cotuit Kettleers Scam

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable police on Friday issued an alert for a scam involving a fraudster claiming to collect donations for the Cotuit Kettleers baseball team.

"The caller will typically ask donors to write checks which are picked up at the donor's home," Barnstable police said in a statement. "This type of fundraising is not sanctioned by the Kettleer organization and residents are urged to refrain from making a donation to any telephone solicitation."

The Kettleers have legitimate donation options on the team website.
