Barnstable Police Honor Fallen Officer
Barnstable police were among thousands who mourned slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon.

YARMOUTH, MA — Barnstable police officers were among the hundreds of law enforcement officers from New England and beyond who attended the funeral of slain Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon Wednesday. Gannon, 32, was shot and killed last week in Barnstable while searching for a career criminal.
"The Barnstable Police Department extends its sincere condolences to the family of fallen Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon," Barnstable police said in a statement. "We stand in support of the men and women of the Yarmouth Police Department, their family members, and the officers and family members of the Barnstable Police Department. We are truly appreciative of the support shown by our Cape Cod community, and remain committed to serving the citizens of the Town of Barnstable."
Gannon's police dog "Nero" was also shot during the incident. The animal survived. Police said Thomas Latanowich, who has 125 criminal charges, shot Gannon and the dog as officers tried to arrest him for a probation violation.
