Barnstable School To Reopen After Virus Outbreak
Centerville Elementary School in Barnstable was closed after a possible norovirus outbreak.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Centerville Elementary School will be closed Friday after a virus sickened dozens of students and staff. A norovirus was suspected. The school is expected to reopen Monday.
"We believe it is in the best interest of the school community to be closed," school Principal Matthew Scheufele said in a statement to parents. "We appreciate your understanding as we are making the best decision we can for the health of our staff and students."
School officials contacted the state Department of Public Health to investigate the outbreak.

The canceled day of classes Friday will be made up at the end of the school year June 22.
