Boston Run To Remember To Honor Officer Sean Gannon
The annual Boston Run To Remember, a fundraiser for first responders, is May 27. It features a half-marathon and 5-mile race.

BOSTON, MA — Boston's annual Run To Remember honors first responders killed in the line of duty. This year's race, scheduled for May 27, will unfortunately have another law enforcement officer to mourn following the shooting death of Yarmouth Police Officer Sean Gannon earlier this month. Gannon, 32, was shot and killed in Barnstable searching for a career criminal.
This year's 14th annual Run To Remember will include a ceremony honoring Gannon.
“The tragic death of Officer Gannon is still so fresh, we pay tribute to him while also remembering the marathon bombings and the two officers who died as a result as well as all first responders who put their lives on the line every day," race director Steve Balfour said in a statement.

The event will also honor MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, who was shot and killed in the 2013 manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombers, and Boston Police Officer Dennis Simmonds, who died in 2014 after suffering a head injury during the manhunt.
Race registration starts at $50 for the 5-mile race and $100 for the half-marathon. Proceeds benefit first responder-supported charities and programs including Cops For Kids With Cancer and local boys and girls clubs.
