Cape Cod Blizzard: Plow Truck Explodes
A blizzard tore through Cape Cod this week, knocking out power to tens of thousands and creating havoc on the roads.

ORLEANS, MA — A Cape Cod plow truck exploded Wednesday morning in Orleans during a blizzard that knocked out power to tens of thousands and created havoc on the roads. The driver was not hurt, police said. The driver was on Tonset Road in the northern part of town when the truck caught fire. The flames completely engulfed the vehicle before firefighters arrived and extinguished it. (More photos below.)
The blizzard, which hit Tuesday morning, knocked out power to more than half of Cape Cod. All of Chatham and Eastham and 99 percent of Orleans were still without power as of Wednesday afternoon. Statewide, more than 140,000 were still without power.
It was the third nor'easter to hit Massachusetts in the last week and a half. Another snowstorm is expected to hit Monday or Tuesday.
