Cape Cod Carjacker Crashes 2 Cars: Police

Cape Cod police said Joseph Bopp stole two cars in Chatham and crashed one in Pleasant Bay.

CHATHAM, MA — A Cape Cod man was arrested Wednesday morning after police said he stole two vehicles and crashed one in Pleasant Bay in Chatham. Joseph Bopp, 27, of Chatham, faces a host of charges. He was held in custody pending an arraignment Thursday in Orleans District Court.

Bopp stole a vehicle in Chatham Tuesday night on Main Street then crashed it in Orleans on Shoal Lane, police said. Then early Wednesday on Jack Knife Landing, Bopp stole a woman's vehicle and crashed it into Pleasant Bay before fleeing the scene on foot, police said.

Officers tracked Bopp to his Chatham residence and took him into custody a few hours later. He was charged with a host of crimes, including motor vehicle larceny, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a crash.
