Cape Cod Man Wanted After Assaulting Officer: Police

Cape Cod police said Wayne Dougherty has a criminal record that includes 38 charges.

YARMOUTH, MA — Cape Cod police are asking the public's help tracking down a suspect charged with assaulting an officer. Wayne Dougherty, 42, was featured as the Yarmouth Police Department's "Wanted Wednesday" fugitive. On April 1, he was arrested by Yarmouth police and charged with assaulting an officer, assaulting a woman and resisting arrest. Police said he has not appeared in court to answer to the charges.

"Dougherty is a convicted felon and has a wide ranging criminal record with 38 prior criminal charges in Massachusetts, 21 as an adult and 17 as a juvenile.
