Fundraiser For Wife Of Slain Cape Cod Police Officer Sean Gannon
Yarmouth police K-9 Officer Sean Gannon was shot and killed during a raid targeting a career criminal. Gannon's dog was shot and recovering.

YARMOUTH, MA — A fundraiser has been established for the wife of slain Cape Cod police K-9 Officer Sean Gannon. Gannon, 32, was shot and killed while searching for a career criminal in Barnstable Thursday, officials said. Gannon's police dog, Nero, was also shot and in stable condition Friday.
Gannon was remembered as the "epitome of kindness," his colleagues said. He was a volunteer with a Big Brothers Big Sisters group on Cape Cod and an official there said the child Gannon was mentoring was so impressed by him that he now wants to become a police officer when he grows up.
"Sean ... was the type of person who would go out of his way, completely above and beyond, to help anyone," reads a note on the GoFundMe fundraising page for his wife. "He was funny, universally-liked."
