Hyannis Husband-Wife Ran Fentanyl Operation: Police
Police said John and Ashley Benevides were arrested in a drug raid in Hyannis; fentanyl, cocaine, suboxone and more drugs were seized.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A Cape Cod husband and wife ran a large-scale drug operation out of their Hyannis residence, police announced Thursday. John Benevides, 35, and Ashley Benevides, 29, were accused of dealing fentanyl, cocaine, oxycodone, suboxone, clonazepam and Xanax.
The couple were arrested Wednesday at about 9 a.m. as Barnstable and Yarmouth police raided their Gosnold Street apartment.
"Police Officers recovered several knotted baggies containing an off white powder (fentanyl) along with various pills," police said in a statement. "Additionally, Police Officers recovered two bags containing a white powder (cocaine). Further recovered from the home were packaging materials (plastic baggies), multiple digital scales and a large amount of (money)."

Police said they seized fentanyl, cocaine, oxycodone, suboxone, clonazepam and Xanax in the residence.
At the time of his arrest Wednesday, Benevides was out on bail pending a trial on a fentanyl trafficking charge in Yarmouth. His bail was set at $30,000. His wife's bail was set at $20,000. The couple were held in custody pending an arraignment Thursday in Barnstable District Court.

The couple were charged with fentanyl trafficking, six counts of drug possession with intent to distribute and conspiracy.
On Friday, another Hyannis couple were arrested in a similar fentanyl raid at a Seabrook Road apartment.
